Hi Arno!
Back in the late 90’s, my wife and I travelled in France. I discovered 2 packet brands of pipe tobacco in various magazine/newstand shops, one called ‘St Claude’ and the other ‘Caporal’. They are both shag cut and very dry, so you have to really pack it tightly to smoke.
I’ve suspected for many years that these blends contain some semois and that is why the smoke is very rustic and sometimes harsh, but very full-bodied and enjoyable.
Have you had any experience with these brands? Do you know if they indeed contain semois?
regards, Dan
