Hello and thank you very much for your blog, i really enjoy it.
I am a south african student writing my phd in religious studies, through the university of Göttingen Germany, at the moment i am doing a research stay in Ghent Belgium. My Phd is about pipe smoking among the Xhosa people of south Africa, they have the belief that the pipe invites ancestors to protect them, many cultural and religious ideas and metaphors exist about the tobacco pipe.
I have written to the Wervik museum and hope to do some research there, as well i have written to the Amsterdam pipe museum also to do some research there. Unfortunately i have not found pipe smokers in Ghent and there is only one tobacconist that sells pipe tobacco.
I have recently discovered semois tobacco and hope to visit there too.
Although my paper will focus on African forms of smoking as a religious practise, it would be great to get in contact with pipe smokers, and find out when pipe smoking events take place, and to conduct some informal interviews about the spiritual aspect of pipe smoking.
Thank you for your help.
Adolph
